Products Description
This product is cross-linked (typically via the silane method, making it PEX-b) and compounded with high-performance, carbon-black-based UV stabilizers. The uniform dispersion of carbon black throughout the pipe wall provides a permanent protective barrier, absorbing and scattering harmful UV rays before they can break down the polymer chains. This process significantly retards the oxidation and embrittlement that standard PEX pipes experience when exposed to sunlight. The pipe retains all the inherent benefits of PEX-b, such as flexibility, chlorine resistance, and scale resistance, while adding critical weather ability for above-ground, exterior, or partially exposed installations.
Products Information
Material:Cross-linked Polyethylene (PEX), Type b (Silane Cross-linked).
Key Additive:High-concentration, finely dispersed carbon black.
Color: Standard color is black due to the carbon black additive
Standards: ASTM F876/F877, EN ISO 15875, NSF/ANSI 61, WRAS, KIWA
Temperature & Pressure: Standard ratings are for continuous operation at temperatures up to 82°C (180°F) at corresponding pressures (e.g., 80 psi at 82°C). It is burst-pressure resistant and suitable for both hot and cold water.
Performance Advantage
Superior Weather ability
The primary advantage is exceptional resistance to UV radiation, preventing cracking, brittleness, and loss of mechanical strength when installed in sunlight or outdoor areas.
01
Extended Outdoor Storage & Use
Pipes can be stored on-site without special covering and used for exterior plumbing runs, saving time and cost on protective measures.
02
Full PEX-b Benefits Retained
Maintains excellent flexibility for easy installation around obstacles, high resistance to chlorine and scale build-up, and durability against freeze-thaw cycles.
03
Long Service Life
The UV protection is not a coating but a bulk property, meaning it cannot be scratched or worn off, ensuring protection throughout the pipe's lifespan.
04
Versatility in Connections
Compatible with all standard PEX connection methods: crimp (brass or polymer fittings), clamp, expansion (PEX-a only tools), and push-fit systems.
05
Applicable Scenarios
- Exterior Plumbing Lines: Supply lines to outdoor kitchens, garden taps, pool equipment, detached garages, or workshops.
- Solar Thermal Systems: Connecting rooftop solar collectors to the storage system, where pipes are exposed to intense sunlight.
- Partial Outdoor Runs in Residential Construction: Sections of plumbing that must run on exterior walls or in unprotected eaves before entering the structure.
- Radiant Snow Melting Systems: Pipes embedded in driveways or walkways that may be exposed before being covered by concrete or asphalt.
- Agricultural and Irrigation Applications: For water supply in greenhouse or open-field setups.
- Temporary Construction Site Water Supply: Where pipes are used above ground for the duration of a project.
